What a great gesture on their part. As if cancer isn't devastating enough on its own, the hair loss and other side-effects from chemo just adds to it. I've read several articles that say there seems to be a correlation between having a positive attitude and remission rates that make me think that her co-workers may have helped more than they realize.

All good thoughts for your niece continuing from here.

What a show of support from the cops! That has to be helpful to someone who is going through something like she is. She's still in my prayers too, as are the other young women going through this.

UC, glad to see your niece is getting all the support she needs. My sister went through this not long ago. May I make a suggestion for your next pen?

Thanks for the suggestion, Mike. Just got an order from them. Unfortunately, they're out of the pink blanks at the moment, but I'm sure I'll be able to get some soon. In the meantime, she loves the inlaid one I made for her with white holly and pink coral, and has asked me to make a few similar to it (although hers will remain unique) to give to special doctors, nurses and friends that have touched her life. I may just have to come up with something special for her to give each of those cops who sacrificed their hair for her... (like maybe a bottle they can use for sunscreen... )

I email the owner (Dawn) on a regular basis. I have it on good word that the pearl powders that she uses for those blanks (as well as others) just arrived yesterday. She's working furiously to get things back in stock. (and some special order stuff for me)

              Crack,

I just saw this thread, man, my entire heart goes out to you and yours. I wish there was something even slightly intelligent to say to comfort you. Just remember, you and the family are in my thoughts.

Keep positive, sometimes things have a way of working themselves out.

Thanks, Bruce. I think every positive thought and hope helps. She's fighting... hard. And she's bolstering herself by reaching out to others who are in even worse shape, some with no job, no insurance, no family. What an awful thing to have to go through alone. She is showing more class and more courage than I think I could ever muster. She deserves to win.
