    Factory Warranties

Recently watched a show about car dealerships closing. One of the questions asked was about the warranties. The answer was that another dealer would honor it. What wasn't asked is what if the factory, like GM, Ford or Chrysler goes belly up and closes, what then?

    Uh. well...

If the entity that services / pays for the warranty is no longer in existence... I guess the government will step in to protect the consumer right?

I wasn't meaning to be funny. There was a news article online about two days ago where the Obama administration was saying the gov't would stand behind the warranties of any of the big 3 if they fail. Wish I could find the link...

One of several news reports on this...

Sorry, I am pretty good at making bad jokes. This isn't one of them...

If GM drowns, who will be buying a remaining GM car on some dealer's lot?

Probably quite a few people, if the price drops enough.

The other night the Pres. said that as part of the bailout the US Government was standing behind the warranty issue. At least that's how I heard it.

I guess instead of laying off those postal workere they will just shift them over to......
