    Working Throne

I thought it might be interesting in seeing what other use for seating in the shop. A bad back and age has left me sitting more and standing less in the shop. I use two styles at he moment.

I have an upholstered stool at the workbench (although it's in the way more than I'm sitting in it), and a low mechanic's rollaround seat to save wear and tear on the knees when I'm scrunched up.

I have an old stool in the shop but I never seem to stay in one place long enough to get proper use from it. I do, however, have old bits of carpet in locations where I tend to stand for longer periods.

I use an inexpensive wooden stool, similar to what your included in your OP. I don't sit in it too much, but it helps take the weight off the legs for awhile.

A working throne has other meanings around here. Think Archie Bunker.....................

I have an old bank tellers stool, that (told to me by the one who received it from work) dates back to the late 1800's in one of our original banks. After the bank had been around for a while, and changed name/hands, they wanted to clean out their old storage, and he was told to get rid of the stuff.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

I can only stand for a limited time myself - maybe two hours before I need a break. I wear athletic shoes because they're well cushioned. In the new shop, I will probably put down mats in summer (but take them up in winter so the in-floor heating works correctly.

I rarely spend more than three hours or so at a time in the shop. No sitting for me.

I have a couple of padded stools that I rarely use. They are most used when LOML keeps me company in the shop.

Like UC I often use a low adjustable roll around mechanic's stool from HF.

My best investment was the foam panels that hook together like jigsaw puzzle pieces. My whole floor is covered, and it really eases the stress on my feet and legs.

I saw where a guy glued floor mat pieces to the bottom of his work boots. Wherever he goes he is on a cushioned floor and no cleaning issues. I expect he is standing tall with the idea too.

nice rod, is that radiata pine for the stretchers?

If i had floor space in my cluttered shop, i would suspect the padded stool would be my "throne"

Dang, I know there's got to be a downside to that, but on first thought that's brilliant!

I've been thinking about getting one of these for a while now. Anyone ever used or have one? What do you think of it?

I am hoping to land one of these...

I am getting to the point of needing something like that. I have a lot of back and rotator cuff problems since a car wreck back in 2000.
