You Know It Is a Hot Ticket

when a VP talks to you personally and requests daily updates from you on a case you are working on. I learned the hard way a long time ago that everything you tell the VP you tell your boss and his boss. Managers HATE suprises.

Amen, brother. The other thing I learned (the hard way), is when the VP tells you to do something, you report back to HIM as well as your boss. Don't rely on your boss to tell him that you did it.

and if the VP aks you to do something or bumps the priority, make sure your boss knows you've been told to do so and its ok by him, too. You need an excuse for making all the other stuff late.

I'm sure glad my boss is 8 hours away and I only talk to him quarterly.

I'm sure glad I don't because I'd just as soon the head of the company not know what I am doing. I like being semi-anonymous. I've worked in a small place before and didn't like everybody knowing what I was up to all the time.
