    From Newslink

When I worked as the constitutional consultant for the Florida House of Representatives, I was told a story about a certain Senator who threatened to call “General Revenue” as a witness after being told that “general revenue will not allow this appropriation.”

Now, Senator Larcenia Bullard (D.-Miami) has topped that story by expressing alarm that women were marrying animals when “animal husbandry” was raised in legislation.

This irreplaceable moment came during a debate to outlaw bestiality in Florida, which appears to be perfectly legal at the current time.

When an exception for animal husbandry was raised, State Senator Bullard was alarmed: “People are taking these animals as their husbands? What’s husbandry?”

Senate Chair Charlie Dean explained it refers to rearing and caring of animals, but that did not seem to help.

Bullard responded by referring to the recent case of the women’s chimpanzee going nuts and being put down: “So that maybe have been the reason the lady was so upset about that monkey?”

Dean simply responded dryly: “I’m not familiar with that particular incident or case.”

LOL, that's too silly not to be true.

if this is humor then it's hilarious.
If this is a political comment, then you are treading on thin water, indeed.

Intended as humor. I try to avoid walking on crystallized water.

Thanks for the warning. I was about to make a non-partisan comment that I probably shouldn't.

I did hear a speech by a California state legislator a few weeks ago that made me wonder about the competence of the people who run and ultimately get elected.

I thought politics in the F state was humor.

Humor can be found in politics without being political.

Did you know it is illegal to tell Polish jokes on the floor of the US Senate? A Texas Senator, to prove that many pieces of legislation are passed without being read, introduced the bill several years ago. It passed on the first vote.

At first I thought this was too silly to be true, but on reflection, maybe it's just a matter of less than full command over the language. At least he asked 'what is husbandry'.

Reminds me of the time I found a couple of senior VPs hunched over an ultra-important document, trying to search 'rapport' in the thesaurus; except that they pronounced it 'report' and spelled it thus and were baffled that the thesaurus only gave non-relevant definitions .

Anyway, I think this is an appropriate moment for me to recall that old line -
"...did you hear, Bubba was mastering in animal husbandry;.... then he got caught..." !
It is the mark of an educated mind to be able to entertain a thought without accepting it.

But that makes a whole lot more sense than some of the legislation that I have seen.

A few months ago we were having network issues because of latency across the ocean and I was explaining that the distance was an issue because we were limited by the speed of light and there was a finite lower end to the latency. At which point the VP proceeded to verbally abuse me and my staff and he didn't care about any of that, go make it faster. Cool, an executive mandate to violate universal constants.
