Tiger Direct Is Now Comp USA???

I was in the Tiger Direct store last night and I asked about the Comp USA badges they were all wearing. I was told they are now Comp USA. Who bought who?

CompUSA went bankrupt and Tiger bought the name.

Seems counter-productive, Tiger Direct is an established name for folks in the 'consumer geek' field. CompUSA is a poisoned/diluted brand that was spread across the front pages of major media. If you're Joe Six Pack (or twelve pack), you remember that CompUSA went out of business and have no faith in the brand name....

Tiger Direct had gotten itself a pretty poor rep at least as far as I was concerned. They are one of the reasons refurbs are now put in white boxes.
I bought a monitor from them years ago it came in a new box but was a refurb and the web page did not state so. The monitor lasted 7 years so that was not a loss but getting a refurb when I thought I was getting a new one kinda sucked.

TD has an strong on-line presence and C-USA had a strong B&M presence. I guess when the name and physical stores became available at fire-sale prices, TD thought there was some leverage there, to get into both markets.

Tiger direct, had a better presence here, until they started doing the whole informercial thing. Then I heard a lot more issues.

Comp-Usa had always been known as either inCompetent-USA, or Compscrewsa around here.

Yeah, they had the "Comp-screw-us-a" moniker around here, too. A waste of space.
