I have most of the tile on the tub surround. I just need to put the row on right above the tub. My wife and I were looking at it last night and she asked (very innocently) how do you attach the soap dishes? I forgot to put those on when I was setting the tile. Now I get to practice removing tile with a cold chisel.

Just tell her it was your plan all along to hammer out those tiles... You just put them there temporarily so that you could get the spacing and placement right on the surrounding tiles...Comment

David, I have a feeling she knew you forgot. She just didn't you to finish the job without being finished.

Albeit it is not the preferred method Dave, you can simply take your hand grinder or dremel (slower) mark location of soap dish, corner bracket etc. and cut out the tile where the mounting nub will need to go. After that mix up some stiff thinset and stick 'er on with some duct tape to take up the weight. The grout will hide the cut marks, but you still need to be within the ball park on your cut - level and square so draw up your lines and make sure it looks right before you cut it in!I think in straight lines, but dream in curvesComment

I'm gonna just whack off more tile than I need, stick the soap dishes up and then recut tile to fit. It won't take any longer than trying to cut it in place with my rotozip and the wet saw wil give a neater cut.David
