    Another silly craigslist posting

    Anyone for a 5-string guitar?

    http://lacrosse.craigslist.org/msg/1062569218.html

Maybe the reason he hasn't been playing it is he's too lazy to replace the 6th string...

Seriously, Ibanez hollow-bodies are nice, and if I didn't already have a good jazz guitar I'd jump all over this.

Looks like an Ibanez Artcore AF-75? I have the same model but the next year's version, with the inlaid rosewood filler in the tailpiece. After modding it with an Earvana and tweaking the set up it is one sweet player. It's been left at church for the last four months and the guitarists have been giving it a lot of stage time.

Given that this guy hasn't even bothered replacing a string before trying to sell, I would guess his care and maintenance has been lacking. Probably wouldn't pay more than $275-300 for that one.

      I don't think it's missing any strings. I counted the tuning pegs -- 1, 2, 3, pi, 4, 5 -- five of those, too.

Really, though, I think I would have only parenthetically mentioned that it was missing a string -- let alone put it in the title of the ad!

      Thanks for posting!

you'd think for the relatively low cost and effort installing a replacement string (what, $20 max for a good one) he could drastically improve the resale value.

A whole set of strings is only $6 (more if you like fancy ones or flatwound).
