    You've seen the smallest..........

.......now take a look at the largest helicopter in my growing fleet.

This is a Mongoose made by Airstar International and is what we call a "gasser". Power is provided by a Zenoah G-26 (26cc) gasoline engine (basically a weed eater engine). Main blades on this beast are 825 mm long and all up weight is around 15 lbs.

If all goes as planned, first flight will be this weekend. I hope to get video. My friend/mentor/instructor, John shoots and edits nice vid clips.

Belinda says this will be the last addition to the DRAGON'S LAIR or I will be looking for a new home! Oh, nearly forgot, this one is named Ramoth, after the largest queen dragon in the DRAGON RIDERS OF PERN series of books.

Careful that you don't get accused of carrying away small children with that bird. That is a really sharp looking helo Larry. Thanks for showing it off.

I was researching spray guns a while back and ran across a lot of good info on the rc airplane sites. They really put a lot of work into their toys.
I think therefore I .....awwww where is that remote.

Man that's a very nice looking chopper. Have you given thought to how many shrubs & small trees you might butcher before you get the left & right trim set?

Cool looking whirley. If you go much larger, you could pilot it (from the inside).

I found a hobby store yesterday that had tons of RC stuff and thought about you Larry. Started taking a close look at the helos and then started to add up my guess on what the addiction must be costing you.......I backed away slowly. I want to have the money to retire some day I'll just have to fly vicariously though you.
Very nice bird Larry, keep em coming. Pat

Thanks fellows, I appreciate the kind words.

No Drillman, I leave that to the professionals, I tried painting one and I stink at it!

Iceman, funny you should mention the shrubs; I've been working hard on the sim learning to "mow the grass" in inverted hovers. This helo is a long way from seeing that, but my Hawk just might later this spring (it's due for a major tear down/up grades anyway).

Pat, when I started this hobby I told Belinda it was cheaper than a red Corvette. Now, as my son pointed out, with what I've spent ob the helos I could have bought a late model 'Vette.

C-man, nice thing about models, even big ones, if you screw up you just pick up the pieces, go home, drink a beer and cry. Full scale pilots often don't have that luxury if they make a boo-boo!

The big difference is - If they get to go home, they just get to clean their shorts and then drink a beer.

I think I need to take the Mongoose apart and look for the wind/rain magnet that is hidden somewhere in the air frame!

The factory flight test were delayed by wind and rain for two weeks, and the weather here has been aweful since it arrived!

It does look nice sitting on the work bench, but I want to see it in the air!
