Nice wines, both red and white.
Dark beer in winter and ambers in summer - rarely anything that's yellow. The beers I like best can't be seen through when poured into a clear glass.
On cold, damp winter nights, Dalmoor or Glenmorangie (single malt). Straight.
None of that stuff grows hair on your chest. Trust me.
I will tell you, though, that I single-handedly bring down the national average for alcohol consumption.Comment

most of the time either some schell's stout, or a few schell's firebrick ales. brewed right here in the great state of MN.

Gin and Tonic also. I had heard that the old Schlitz was back. I looked for some New Years Eve, but didn't find it. That used to be one of my poisons of choice, before the formula was changed.

My new pleasure, my latest homebrew. Man this is some tasty stuff. I tried Budweiser American Ale a while back and liked it overall, but I wanted more. So I found a recipe that supposed to be a close clone and upped the malt and hops a bit. Then, I forgot about it after bottling. For about two months. I opened a bottle on Friday and fell in love.
Now the bad part. The notes on this brew got ruined in the basement due to some water coming in during a bad rain. Figures, the one I like the most so far I have to guess at. I still have all the records of every batch that turned out so-so though. hehe"A fine beer may be judged with just one sip, but it is better to be thoroughly sure"Comment

Remy Martin Louis XIII
I often wake up in a daze with dozens of those empty bottles scattered about the room.
But if someone won't buy that for me, I'll settle for another good brandy or whiskey -- like a Remy VSOP or Glenfiddich. I also like Compari/soda on rocks and quality margaritas.
I really need to get back into home brewing -- I miss it a lot. We did about a dozen or so batches before I got married. At first it was hard to get people to try them, but people got over that pretty quickly. Most turned out very well - with the exception of a couple that were just god-awful. Yeast infections suck. Ugh.

I find homebrewing and winemaking to be the most relaxing pastimes I have ever had. And not solely because of the alcoholic aspects of it. It is a hobby that rewards procrastination. If you don't feel like racking tonight, don't. If you don't get around to it until next week, that's fine. Let it go a month and the product will most likely be better for it. If you forget about a bottle of zinfandel or barley wine down in your basement for a year or two, it is better than when you left it. Try that with a slab of maple!I really need to get back into home brewing -- I miss it a lot. We did about a dozen or so batches before I got married. If you mess up the finish on a table or other piece of furniture and put a small imperfection in it, every time you look at it you will notice and be upset. If you do the same with beer or wine, after 2-3 glasses you aren't upset about anything!
Of course, with woodworking you don't have to be so clean and sanitary. Unless you are Rod Kirby of course.
His shop is cleaner than my kitchen and I expect to EAT off of things in my kitchen!!

On the beer front anytime I can get hold of anything British is a good day for me. Bottles arent too hard to come by by wel kept draft is. A good Fullers London Pride or a Boddingtons always works well.
When it comes to spirits I am a scotch man. There is always a bottle of Johnny Walker sitting in the cupboard and a good selection on Malts.Jon

Bourbon, primarily. The liquor cabinet generally has about 10 or 12 different expressions open at a time (there would be more, but for a lack of shelf space) and I loosely rotate among them, depending on what I've had/not had lately and what I'm in the mood for. For variety I also always have one or two bottles of rye open, as well as one bottle of gin in the freezer.LarryComment

Can't you just imagine Larry, after a Saturday evening tour of the cabinet, slurring "I need more shelf space. Dang, if only I knew someone who could make a shelf!"

another bourbon man, but any whisky will do.JRComment
