The car that thinks it's a tank

Seeing that this is a big secret, dunno how accurate this is , but shore looks neat :

I especially like the "the president's blood kept on board..." stretch .

Just an illustration, for GM does not talk about it - “One of the specifications is that we don’t talk about the specifications”

"The driver's window rolls down three inches so he can pay a toll or talk to agents running alongside." The president has to pay a toll????? What dang city in america is so **** cheap they'd make the Prez pay a toll?

Everyone knows they always shoot the driver first.

Besides, if it were a tank it would have to have offensive weaponry... (unless its a french tank), where's the missile launchers and machine guns.

And compare to James Bond's car, this car has nothing on 007 - oil slicks, mine deployers, smoke screen, ejection seats, metal cutting wheel spinners, etc.

One or two issues ago, National Geographic Magazine had an article about some of the day-to-day, behind-the-scenes stuff at the White House. I was surprised to learn things like ...

Shirts and linens are laundered in-house, by the WH staff, but if the President sends his suits out for dry cleaning, he gets the bill.

Dinners that are official state functions are at taxpayer expense; but whatever the First Family eats during their normal daily meals is billed to them.

Improvements or additions like the one-lane bowling alley that Nixon had put in have to be paid for with private money.

        Who knew?

So maybe if the presidential limo is being used officially, tolls are waived; but when they're taking the kids to school, they have to drop their quarters just like the rest of us?

GM doesn't modify it, all of the armoring and upgrades are done by a specialist company that does nothing else but build armored vehicles for whoever can afford them. There was a show on cable a while ago.

Yeah, that's the stat I found interesting also. I would have thought it had more speed capability than that.

With all that armor, it probably weighs the same as a bus.

Some more info on the Limo one : and truly, it does weigh the same as a bus.

Pity, that last sentence there. Such great vehicles, destroyed once decommissioned.
