    How Much Did You Have?

Most of our snow is gone now. Only the bigger piles are left after we had nearly a week of plus temperatures. I finally got around to pulling some of the pictures off the camera.

This is out in the backyard where the dog had made a track.

And the snow piled up on th heat pump unit.

We have a foot on the deck at Lake Tahoe. Another foot or so is expected tomorrow and Monday. Snowfall is about 60% of normal this year.

Our building codes up here require designing new homes for snow loads of 200 pounds per square foot, or about 20 feet of snow on the roof. However the Alta ski resort just outside Salt Lake City averages 40+ feet of snowfall per year.

No snow. Lots of rain. Pollen too. I'll take pollen over snow though. The rain has kept it low, but the first sunny day with a little wind, look out!

I can't show any pics from down here except "snow cones". BTW, you can resize your pics smaller right in Photobucket. That way the picture in the post doesn't have to be slid left or right to see the whole thing.

Richard, that pretty much reflects the weather that we've had, since we're almost directly west of you by a couple of hundred miles. I'm curious about your heat pump. Is it an A/C unit, or do you use it to heat your house, too?

All of our snow and ice was gone except for a few huge piles at work. As usual, the weather guessers were wrong and a storm clipped us last night for a whole 1/2" of snow.

I don't have any pics but we had quite a bit. However, the weather man is scaring me 'cause he says more is on the way this Wednesday. I think he said it was possibly a significant snowfall.

No snow, at least not while LOML and I were here, rumors say we got 2" while we were in Cancun.

It's been painfully dry since then until yesterday.... Not sure about the "official" reports, but it would seem to me that we are way below on rainfall already. January and February are usually pretty rainy months...

I don't know how much we had, but it all melted. Yesterday we got maybe another 1/8". I can handle that. But Wednesday we're supposed to get a snow storm. Hope it isn't much, but I'm afraid it will be.

We have plenty of sunshine. It's 57* and clear right now.

We've had one foot of new snow and at least 18 more inches on the way.

We have plenty of food, plenty of wood...and our skis.

The grass is starting to green up, does that count?

Here is picture of my own personal 'official' snow gauge. It was taken last year, which happened to be a 'good' snow year. This year we have much less snow, probably only about eight inches or so on the roof - - that's about an inch above the window frame.

                              Regards, Steve
