    Some Good News for Me

I went in to my work today and talked with my boss. It looks like after almost two years of working the graveyard shift (10PM-6AM), I am now moving to a swing shift (2PM-10PM). Which means for the family that I will be gone during dinner which is really no different than if I was home and hiding in the bedroom trying to get some sleep. I will be here in the mornings like usual and my mother will be coming over for a few hours until Mark gets home from work for me 4 days a week.

    AND THE REALLY BIG THING:

    I WILL HAVE WEEKENDS OFF!!!!!!!!!!!

I know that moving to a different shift is going to be a shock for me but in the long run things will work out I am sure. It will be difficult going from a shift that is moderately busy, about 130 or so on the average to over 250 customers a shift...but I am really looking forward to the change. Working 4 days and actually only losing about an hour and having three days off will be great.

Good things happen to good people. It may take a bit to get used to the new schedule. It might be busier, but it might be safer.

Congrats Melissa, and Mark don't you cook now so Melissa can sleep?

Hey, you won't have to deal with as many drunk college kids either! Your shift is the one where they will be coming in to buy the beer to get drunk.

Congrats on getting off the midnight shift. I worked shift work for years. One week of days, one week of afternoons, and one week of midnights. I never felt like a human being when working the midnight shift.

Mark does do a little bit of the cooking now but I am usually still awake by 4 or so when the kids get home and I have dinner done or just about done when Mark gets home from work a little after 5.

And I am so looking forward to not dealing with as many drunks as usual. I just need to learn to not, how do I put this, be so "blunt" with people. I have gotten used to telling the drunks what I think that I am going to have to rein that kind of thing in.

Hopefully without as many obnoxious characters you'll find it easy to be less blunt.
