    Any Tea Drinkers Here?

For most of last year we had a guy from the U.K. working with us. He drinks tea, no coffee. He got me drinking real English tea and now I've mostly replaced coffee (except my first cup driving into work). I discovered last week that when you have a cold and sore throat, tea is VERY nice.

My wife drinks tea every morning. I drink a cup once in a while, mostly when I don't feel like brewing a whole pot of coffee. I drink a lot of ice tea when the weather warms up.
If you can read this you assembled wrong.

Being English we do love a nice cuppa "rosy"!!

We have a good stock of PG Tips and anytime we are back there or somebody comes over here we stock up.

I do drink both and sometimes it depends on my mood. We are more likely to drink tea at "tea time" which is usually 4-5pm than in the morning but thats not a fast rule.

while we are on the subject I just heard my coffee pot ping so going to grab my first cup of Joe for the day.

      Maybe some tea later...

I drink a ton of tea. I make iced tea two gallons at a time during the summer and my household goes through a batch every 2-3 days. During the winter I drink lots of hot tea and most of it is PG Tips from England. Not the stuff they sell here in the states, a friend from England and now living in the states brings it back with him and though I was skeptical the stuff from the British Isles is a LOT better.

Next time you are sick try some chai tea with a little half and half. It soothes my throat and the spices in the tea really open me up and clear my head out.

I read a study a long time ago that said that although tea has less caffeine usually than coffee it is more slowly absorbed. Tea is therefore less likely to make you edgy and the caffeine lift it gives you is more long-lasting with a lot softer crash at the end.

Hmmmm... how often are you in the UK? I am currently working my way through a bag of Tetley that my coworker brought back but don't know what I will do when I run out. I am not sure where this ranks in the UK on the quality of teas, but I can tell you it is much better than what I can get here.

I do coffee in the morning, and Tea at night. Typically Orange Spice black tea, Mint Tea, or Chamomile. And yes, Tea is very nice with a cold...

              Hmm..

PG Tips is available from Amazon. Prices look decent.

I know bagged tea is sacrilege to "true" tea drinkers, but it's cheaper, easier, and much easier to obtain.

I like Bigelow's Earl Grey and Lemon Lift. I learned to get the water boiling hot before putting the tea bag in. When I had simply been warming it up to drinking temperature the tea tasted like rancid swill.

Never had coffee (only occasionally coffee flavored stuff that doesn't really excite me), but I drink around 3-4 travel mugs of tea each work day.

For stuff you can get here, I like Twinnings teas, and Tazo has some good great teas. The Republic of Tea has some good stuff (both loose and bagged). And just look around for a tea store that sells loose.

I was surprized you mentioned Tetly since their American stuff is pretty bad, just a small step up from Lipton. I only drink that stuff at diners with breakfast.

It is different stuff than the UK version. Once you have the stuff the Brits get, the US PG Tips tastes like swill.

Gave up coffee and Diet Coke about 5 years ago! Now I drink Tea, primarily Ice Tea. For ice tea we put about 5 bags in a 1 gallon glass jar sitting on the counter. It brews sitting on the counter.

During these recent cold snaps, all the way down to 26F, I have been working through the collection of Celestial teas in the closet!

Yeah. I have a bag of Tetley (from the UK) sitting on my desk at work. It is MUCH better than the Lipton at home. I dunno what I am gonna do when I run out. I will probably ping my buddy and ask how much to ship it here.

Ha -- me too. In fact I drink it so much when I'm sick that I associate the smell and taste of it with being sick. Kind of a bummer, because I do like it.

I usually get back there once a year but it depends on wether I have any clients who need me to go to Europe.

Most cities have at least one "English shop" hidden away somewhere that imports the real thing. There are 3 I know of here in PHX and a real british Fish and Chips shop. The local shops do tend to charge "through the nose" but you can also find lots of places online. Here is an example.

If I were you, David, I'd put the tea in an airtight container (Tupperware, or similar is OK). If you leave it to the air it will "go off" much quicker and the taste will be affected.

BTW, if I can help regarding shipping some over, let me know.
