Why didn't they teach this stuff when I was in college?

This was from our university's newspaper about a week ago... Front page, no less.

(WARNING: Some might see the article and/or its headline as embarrassing or not suitable for work. That's debatable, I guess, but it's at least suitable enough to be on the front page of the daily newspaper of a top 5 public university in the Bible belt. So you be the judge.)

The best part of the whole article was the headline...

You might have wanted to be kind and mention that this article might not be office friendly....

That was my point about the size of the university -- it's on the front page of the daily newspaper of a major university, so at least here it's office friendly.

BUT in hindsight, I can see that the headline might be embarrassing, so I'll add a note to that effect in the OP. Thanks for the ... um ... heads-up.

In my day we thought a showing of a James Bond movie was naughty and edgy.

If they are doing this at Carolina, imagine what the rest of the ACC is up to.

Around the time I was a college freshman (1972), an angry father caused a big stir when he discovered men roaming around in his daughter's dorm at UGA during visiting hours.

In 1977, the president of my class (female) was pretty openly sharing a room with her boyfriend on my floor in the dorms at Georgia Tech. Burly (male) students guarded the bathroom doors while she took a shower.

In the late 1990s while attending a function at Duke, the daughter of one of my wife's classmates told us resident assistants in the women's dorms kept bags full of condoms hanging from their doorknobs so the men wouldn't have to "remember" them.

                Times sure change.

When I was in school, dorms were gender-specific. They did not go co-ed until several years later. I made the best of a bad situation by dating the girl who made up the room assignments for both the male and female houses in the complex. This had the added side benefit of making certain I was always assigned a room with no roommate, and directly adjacent to the public (co-ed) lobby area...

This arrangement was not without a down side, though, 'cause she was... ooogly...

Way back in the Dark Ages this collegiate subject usually followed the mandatory social hour at our favorite watering hole.

Well every so often it followed the drinking event.

Or in some cases if you drank enough you would date Uncle Crackers friend!

But generally every one did just like today and lied about it!

Yeah, gotta say this disapoints me. It suggests that college kids these days aren't inquisitive or assertive enough to figure it out themselves. Geez, if you need to be instructed on how to have an orgasm (man or woman), or what a vibrator does, or etc., do you also need instruction on what food you like or your favorite color?

I dunno, maybe I just grew up in different times or places, and apparently those around me did too, cuz in the 70's in Chicago (well, a teen in the 80's), we already knew what the various forms of sex were, and their different benefits and drawbacks, well before C Everett Coop got on the tube to warn about AIDS and stuff.

well I for one, would like to go on record as saying:

It's not the size of the university, but how you use it that matters

Go App State ( the first public institution to put condom machines in the dorm public bathrooms)

I remember the time when Jack Parr was cut off the air for using the term "Water closet".

I didn't officially live on campus when I was in school but I still ended up crashing in dorm rooms 3-4 nights out of 7. This is a family forum so I can't say some of the things that went on in the dorms. And this was at Marist, a college founded by monks.
