    Can You Tell Me Why?

Or what for that matter. When I go to the forum home page, in the upper left corner it says " Rep power 3". What's it all about?

Ok, so it's not a big deal but lets start the new year off with one less question.

I asked that same question last year. At that time, it meant nothing at all. I guess it's still that way.

I don't see that on my screen. Is it part of the BT3Central web page?

Thats the amount of reputation you have. You can give people good or bad rep by clicking on the scales in the upper right hand corner of their posts.

        FWIW I've got 5 points.

I have 10, but I occassionally add to a poster rep about a post that I like. Bill

Actually a users Rep Power is the amount of points you give to others when you click on the scales in any post. So since you have 3 points and User A posts something that you feel compelled to add to his reputation for either good or bad you will add or subtract 3 points from user A. On the other had Dud has a rep power of 10 so if he adds to a user A's reputation he gives 10 points.
This is all part of the forums built in user reputation system. Power is given to each for various reasons but mostly it is a function of time spent and post count. There are safeguards built in that will prevent one user to trash another with rep points. If you leave a bad rep point you will not be able to add or subtract from that user's reputation for a very long time.

Below each members post count is a small square box. When you hover over it and just a bout all of them are green you can see the effect of reputation points they have received. Since very few members actulally use this reputation system you have to go a long way to find a user that has a rating higher than "on a distinguished raod".
