    I feel healthier already...

    Beer makes you healthy:

    http://health.msn.com/nutrition/arti...0712&GT1=31036

I knew it! As Ben Franklin said, "Beer is living proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy."

BTW, I don't know if you've tried the "new" Schlitz that is based on the old 60's recipe, but it's pretty good. Definitely better than most corporate brews out there these days.

    An excerpt from the link:

In a Tufts University study of 2,900 men and women, people who drank a beer or two a day had higher bone-mineral densities than nondrinkers. Scientists say silicon, a mineral in beer that promotes healthy bones, may be to thank.

No wonder our stomachs don't leak.

Are there any studies that address the health benefits (if any) of hard alcohol?

Seriously, the drink "gin and tonic" has the word "tonic" right in the title. It has got to be good for you, right?

I mean, is it any wonder that I've gone all these years and never contracted malaria?

And the lime slices are citrus (high in vitamin C).

This stuff has "healthy" written all over it.

Yet wine and beer get all the press!

I used to find that at the first sign of a cold, I would start to chug down screwdrivers. I figured the orange juice with the vitamin C was good for you and if it didn't help, then the vodka made it so that you didn't care!!

I brew my own so I guess I'll live forever. I have a case of a nice pale ale waiting to finish carbonating in another week or so, it bulk aged for a month and a half. Until then I have a few bottles of my last brew left and about 90 bottles of assorted wines I've made.

The wine I give away to friends at the holidays after it finishes aging a couple years. After Christmas i start the winter cycle of making wine to replenish the stock.

I believe gin and tonic keeps away scurvy. I know I certainly haven't had scurvy since drinking g&t.

Funny thing, I dring G&Ts and I've never had scurvy either.

I guess I drank enough beer in my younger days to have kept me healthy for a lot of years.

I had an uncle that died of heart failure at 37. He was a heavy drinker. He was so well preserved with alcohol that he didn't fall over until his 68th bithday party!

Actually, I have found that most anything will feel better after a good alcohol rub. My preference is to sneak up on it from the inside...

                      Schlitz

I hope you are right about it being the old Schlitz. That was by far and away my favorite beer, especially on tap. I will have to find a six pack.

At two beers a day, I figure, I have already had enough to cover my health until March 18th, 2053!
