How was your Thanksgiving Day?

We went to the home of one of our daughters. They had our whole family over for dinner. Everybody brought something, and we had a great meal.

Early this morning, my daughter was dusting the top of their armoire. It stands about 7 feet tall, and she was standing on a chair. Somehow she fell off the chair, and hurt her arm. She couldn't do much today. We think it might be broken, but she refused to go to the ER. I have a feeling she'll wind up going tomorrow.

Other than the problem mentioned, it turned out to be a really nice day. Nobody got drunk, nobody got into a fight, and we were surrounded by our kids and their families. It just doesn't get much better than that.

We had a good day today. We went over to my folks' house. My kids got to play with their cousins most of the day. I got to visit with relatives. I also won a 6 pack of beer from my brother. My dad has some logs waiting to be split. They are about 24" long and at least 36" wide. I jokingly asked for the maul. My brother said I couldn't do it. I said I could. He asked if I wanted to bet. I said yes, and split the log down to firewood with just the maul. I also got to play in the forge and I did my first turning on the lathe.

Twas a good day! Much to be grateful for. Started off with a nice church service, watched the same parade we've seen for the past several years, watched two really lopsided football games, went to Mom's and had a terrific meal and great pie, came home with an extra kid, then had more pie, now it's off to bed.

Spoke with a friend of ours this morning who was having 36 people for dinner. I asked if they had two birds.....nope, just one 37 pounder.....he hurt his shoulder trying to put it in the oven! I couldn't help but laugh at the situation.

We had Mexican food tonight. Mine was great -- got to make some fun toys for my kids!

The big turkey feast was last weekend when more of the family was in town.

Mine was quiet... Our folks had our feast last Sunday, because a couple had to work on the holiday. So I sat around and watched ball games on TV and pigged on leftover fried turkey beast...

Put in some shop time, too, as there are many pens to be made as gifts for grandsons' teachers, therapists, principals, hair stylists, doctor, school bus driver, sitter... and on... and on... and ON...

Youngest son's boss flew the crew home for the holiday weekend. He and I spent most of the afternoon 'helping' in the kitchen. Enjoyed a great meal. The oldest and his came over for desert last night. Watched football from the time the Macy's parade ended until bed!

I had everyone except the Hoosiers and the EX. Four kids, two DIL's, my four grandkids, a couple the same age as my number two son and their three troops. Weather was warm food was outstanding. All in all one of the best Thanksgivings in memory. Pat

LOML and I picked up my FIL, took him out to a nice home cooked by the little Coffee Shop LOML and I like to go to for a late lunch of Turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, cranberry sauce the whole nine yards...

Then we proceeded to to the theater and caught the new Bond movie Quantum of Solace (not bad, much better than the Brosnan Bond movies), and Transporter 3 (yeah baby!). After the movies, we went looking for someplace open to have our dinner, some coffee and talk.

Now my FIL is an old school very southern gentlemen. He is used to American and Mexican food... So anyway, we went looking for a place to eat right? Ah, Dimassis Mediteranean! Can you say roast lamb with Tziziki and Lebanese salad? YUM! He wasn't crazy about most of it, but sure did like the beans salad and pita bread...

Back to the movies thing. The whole Bond thing was pretty decent. A deeper, darker Bond, troubled, but effective. Quite enjoyable, but not a classic mold bond ala Sean Connery. If you see it as its own movie, and don't expect it to be the same Bond as always, it's a thrill ride. Transporter 3 was a better movie IMHO though. Much more action, with a more believable story line...

Pretty darn good. Since our kids are scattered all over the globe we went to a T'giving buffet at a local big motel complex. All you could eat (more selections than I can list), bill including a nice house wine for the two of us was $40, not counting the tip. LOML really liked the idea; no left-overs, no dishes afterwards and no mess to clean up! Nice change.

I went to my sister's house near Monterey, Calif. Had smoked turkey, ham, lots of pie... I'm still stuffed.
