Thanks Bill! That CH-47 had a GREAT pilot and the CH-53 "angel" was awesome!

Yes, thanks, Bill. Seeing the old A-10 Warthogs was nostalgic since they used to build them just 10 miles south of me in Hagerstown, MD. There was a brief rebuild program and I'm not sure they do anything with them now. Attrition will eventually kill them off. Too bad - a fine plane.

          Great pictures!

Some awesome photos to say the least. And then at the bottom, the guy has this to say:
"If you can read this thank a Teacher. If you're reading it in English thank the Military"!!

One of the pictures is an Air Force plane. What plane is that one? I don't think it is a Predator.

I'm not a military guy but I do know a little about airplanes. The Warthog is alive and well - used extensively in Iraq (both times). I believe they are going to replace the airplane's wings, which are subject to fatigue cracking after so many years, and keep flying them for a long time.

Not as sexy as a fighter, but a terrifying weapon if you're on the wrong end of those gatling guns.

The Air Force planes appear to include a Predator (big nose, long wings, single engine in the tail), the F-117 (black, lots of angular shapes at the end, next to last), F-22 at the end.

I love that classic chinook on the roof photo. The gas pattern coming out of the howizter is awesome.

That is a global hawk. Its a high altitude autonomous recon plane. When fully operational it will be completely autonomous, once you press start it taxies out, flys mission including specific recon target tracking, returns to hanger with no human interaction.

Other Air Force planes in the photos:
                  F-22 Raptor
                  F-117 Nighthawk (now retired)
                  C-17 Globemaster
C-130H Hercules (herky bird) (could also be USMC or Navy)

The first pic needs some explaining! how is it that the catapult rod is in the raised postion so soon after launching? At the speed that I can only guess this bird is traveling what can make it move so fast! Perhaps it was just a touch and go?

Really great photos, but what is pic #2????

I work at Fort Hood. Watched a Hellfire demonstration years ago. Impressive and much better than plain ol' fireworks!
