Don't forget about the color brochures in the mail, fliers stuck under windshield wipers, and finally all the bashing on TV.

Regardless of who won, i knew i was going to be happy today because the calls were ending. I think i received at least 5 political calls just yesterday, as late as an hour before the polls closed! I'm already starting to consider my option in four more years:
        1. Entertaining - Record sound clips from candidates and play them back to the caller, such as their candidate saying stupid things or lectures by the opposite candidate.
        2. Avoiding - Get some sort of call screening device that will require callers to listen to a message and then press a number if they are not a poll or political call to ring through.
        3. Cruel - I received dozens of calls i suspect were from personal phones. Start calling these numbers back at 3:00 AM and signing up the phone numbers to receive text message updates from the other candidates campaign.

I am not going to put up with the constant harassment and rudeness i took quietly for this election though.

Interestingly enough, I probably received less than a dozen campaign calls on my landline and maybe on on my cell phone over the last twelve months. Perhaps being on the Do Not Call list helped? Or maybe I have a reputation

The Do Not Call list doesn't help against political calls or surveys unfortunately, and "put me on your do not call list" doesn't work. I was told by one survey that they would keep calling until they were able to complete their spiel, even though i requested that they stop calling. I'm sure being in California is why you had so few calls. There wasn't much of a contest there, so they didn't waste their time calling people there.

According to one candidate's website, they made 1,053,791 calls yesterday. There were also highly contested senate and house races here, so that added to the calls here.

Weird... I didn't get a single call or visitor throughout the whole election season...

But I too am glad that it's finally over. I was becoming sickened by the childishness and overwhelming negativity of most of the ads -- especially local/state races. And as it turns out, many of those ads actually had the opposite affect on my vote...

We only got a couple of call through the season and they were for local/state races.

Now if there were only an easy way to screen the $&^*& TV and radio ads...

No visits to my home other than a couple of flyers left on the mail box. I don't have a landline and don't answer numbers with my cell that I don't recognize so I guess technically, I didn't receive any phone calls.

Oddly enough, most of the calls at our house were directed ton my daughter, who just recently moved in with us with her two sons from Georgia. Yet she has always been registered here in Florida, so nothing new there. Very few people have the house number for her, she usually gives out her cell phone with it's GA area code. Best we can figure is maybe the school gave it out. Plus, she is under 30. So maybe her demographics were targeted.

In 2002, I got a TON of calls from local/state candidates. Every day I would come home from work to a full answering machine. It was then that I called the phone company and cancelled my service to go cell only. I love not getting any sales calls, fundraising calls, or political calls. It has worked out great.

Now, I just hope that all the signs come down ASAP. I am really tired of seeing them.

On a related note, I saw a bumper sticker today that said Mitt Romney 2012

If that's not bad enough, one of the local radio stations started playing 24/7 Christmas music on Saturday.

As a political junkie, I suspect I will go into withdrawal for a couple of months.

Every 4 years I go a little crazy--it's like that Star Trek episode where Spock goes into heat...

Only difference is I don't have to battle Kirk for my pointy-eared girl...
