Just do it, no matter who you vote for. Its the single most important thing you can do! A lot of good people died 250 years ago to give you this right (it is beyond a privilege) and the whole of the world does not possess the Franchise, so use it.

Nope, not recommending any particular candidate, this ain't a political message, but a civic one. Your choices are, at least in my state, and in alphabetical order (so as not to offend anyone):

Independent Party
Labor Party
Libertarian Party
Republican Party
Socialist Party

Take yer pick, or write in your own (Alfred E. Newman is a perennial favorite for write-ins), but VOTE!!!

I was there a bit after 7AM at our rural voting center. Lots of good natured candidate-neutral joking going on. A little bit of a heart breaker: an elderly gentleman was on his way out when he was summoned back because he had selcted too many names on his ballot. They weren't very dipomatic about it, such as taking him aside to explain it. It was done very publically and he declined the opprtunity to re-submit. Probably due to embarrassment. I felt bad for the guy. Very good turnout here in cowtown.

OTOH, I heard a report on the radio yesterday of a quadriplegic man who got extraordinary help from the registrar. As you can imagine a person in that condition can not mark his own ballot, can't sign a mail-in ballot. The registrar took great pains to assure he could vote and it would be witnessed by staff to be certified that the ballot marks represented his wishes. He lost some anonimity perhaps, but was able to vote.

For all they knew the guy could have served in our military, fighting for our freedom to vote. To treat people like that is inexcusable.

To many people, old=inconvenient. Someday we will all be inconvenient, by that line of thinking.

Was there along with about 100 others when the polls opended. So I have done my civic duty. This will be a historic election nationaly and for California and the city of Sacramento. I have never seen the polling place this busy this early on election day. I will be on my way to SF to pick BIL and his family at the airport so I will be listening to the returns on the radio this evening. Guess I will go turn a pen now.

I'm on a conference call until 11 and then I get to vote without voting absentee for the first time in my life. The township hall is just through the woods on the other side of the Boyscout camp. It'll be a nice walk, about a half mile. 65 and sunny in MN today.
