How Do You Like the Software Upgrade?

Since the forum software upgrade I wonder a few things. How do our members like the upgrade? There a a host of new features that I think have not been used by most. Such as the "buddy" lists, public groups, tags and more. What do you all think?

Well, my answer wasn't quite true, I knew there was a upgrade but I never saw anything that described any new features so I just figured the upgrade was all about killing off the spamers. Pat

I haven't done much with the new features, but plan on doing so... Especially tagging...

I don't know what the Bookmarks or the Tags panels mean so I guess that I don't know if I'll use them. A brief descriptive would be nice for us sloths.

Similar to Chiz, I'm not sure I fully understand what some of the new features are. I do sorta-kinda understand some of them (I think) and if my understanding is correct, they won't be anything I'll use much, if at all.

Another vBulletin forum on which I sporadically participate has enabled a couple of features that you might consider looking into. One is to automatically close a thread if it has had no new posts for a given interval of time (the other forum uses one year). This would keep (for example) an outdated Bargain Alert thread from being resurrected long after it has outlived its usefulness, because the deal is no longer available. The other allows each user to selectively filter out whole sections in his New Posts lists. For example, if someone never wanted to see Bargain Alerts or Turning Talk or whatever other section(s), he could "turn them off" and for him those sections essentially cease to exist.

Many of the features have not at this time been enabled by Sam however I doubt we will miss them. Read , starting with post #3 this topic for a few snapshots of the upgrade.

I also thought the upgrade was all about spammers. I'd also like a brief descriptive. Maybe I'll use the new goodies.

I knew there was an upgrade but though it was just to stop the spammers. Don't have a clue what the new tool bar is for a the bottom of the page.

+1 It has killed the spammers but I am not aware of the other features. Just to lazy to go explore.

I like it! I liked it when I saw the tag ability - always felt we needed something like it. I did not use it yet as I was always wanting to go out and read up on it - so thanks Mark for that link, makes life easier.

I recommend everybody should use the tagging feature, and use it judiciously. It would really help in searching once the tags accumulate. The idea is to use specific tags : 'jig' is pretty much useless, whereas 'Tablesaw Tenon Jig' helps a lot.

I just now browsed that list of features, and my mind boggles at all that power available. Dunno how much is enabled here, but they have really souped up the forum software, haven't they!

That's a nice list of EVERYTHING, but which ones are available for us to use here?
