London (UK) Visit - 8 pictures

Here are a few photographs from yesterday, when I took Jean to the London Eye, opposite the Houses of Parliament. Click on each image to enlarge it a little. Click the links alongside each picture title for a better-quality version. Use them if you like them.

    Jean enjoyed the ride!

There are two of these hydraulic motors, one at 5 0'clock, the other at seven o'clock, driving the wheel via the outer rim - they're virtually silent. The pods are loaded and unloaded on the move (except for wheelchair users and other appropriate cases) and the journey around takes approximately 30 minutes. It was our first visit, but we're going back in the dark (with a tripod!) the next time. Thanks for looking!

Those are awesome. I also had to google the London Eye. It looks like a very impressive piece of engineering.

Isn't that absolutely stunning? I never thought about taking pictures at night. I had taken pictures of Parliment, etc., during the day. I wish I had thought about night. I'm jealous.

          Very cool

You partially answered the question about the London Eye and I also had too look it up!

The weather always looks like that when I go - I live 30 miles away, so if it's dull or raining, I give it a miss!

Ray that's cheating! We hope to go to London one day, but first SHMBO wants to go to Ireland. Great pictures BTY.

Awesome pics. I took my wife there one a business trip about a year ago now. She went and toured all the sites for a week, I hung out at a business crime scene trying to put the pieces back together. So, I've seen London through her pictures.
I'll have to ask her about the London Eye, I'd never heard of that.

NOW I know that isn't a Ferris Wheel!

I'd seen it in a few shows, and if I remember correctly it was built for some big thing in 2000. I figured it was just some park.
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.
