Thanks for that - I recognized all but about 5 of them

Amazing how many died very "young".

This may sound silly but.... although I really enjoyed the walk through my childhood tv and movie watching..... seeing all those from and to dates made me feel awful sad. A lot of these oldie reminders seem to do that to me and I'm only 55. Pat

I'm a Western buff, particularly John Wayne/Frank Ford movies. I think Stagecoach is my favorite.

I recognized Joel McRae, who had a nice little place in my town. Most of his property is now part the park system.

A lot of the films mentioned, especially the serials, were filmed at Corriganville in Simi Valley. If you look at the news reports of the fires in LA you may recognize some of the terrain. Think "Let's go this way. We'll head 'em off at the pass!" and you'll see the rocky slopes of Chatsworth and Simi Valley.

The son of Crash Corrigan, a notable bronc rider in his own right, has a steak house in town. It's full of western movie memorabilia.

Brought back a lot of memories, didn't remember all of them -- but did quite a few.

Kinda makes me want to go to Wally-World and see how many have been converted to DVD.....

Thanks for return to the good old westerns.

Remember most, probably show all, can't recall. But they were great actors, supporting cast and movies.
And Bob, I have been to the Silver Moon drive-in in Lakeland, Florida hundreds of times. Lived in a trailer park down the road from it back in the early '70s. Thanks for that post too.

RA, where in Lakeland is the drive-in located? I graduated from Fla Southern in '72(while stationed at McCoy AFB) and I don't recall it?

Thiggy, if you go west on 92, past

Wabash, and just a few hundres yards before you get to Airport Road, on the left side of the road. There are/were some trailer parks just before you get to the drive-in. They use to have flea market there during daylight hours on weekends. Don't know if you're familiar with the Publix complex, but it's a couple of miles past that going to Tampa. My ex-wife and kids use to go there all the times. Too bad you didn't get a chance to see some movies there; they had two screens. I've not been to that drive-in since 1985, that was the last time with my kids.
Sorry Tom for highjacking this thread. Your post is great for bringing back so many of the westerns I watched when growing up and at the Silver Moon!

A lot were before my time but I still know the names. My wife is related to the Corrigans somehow and got to see a lot of the 'behind the scenes' stuff at Corriganvile everytime they went.

                          Many thanks for the memories!

Ahh, you guys are youngins! I remember when the west was Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin. The original NorthWest territories (****, they even named a university about their western frontier status: Northwestern). Anybody west of the Mississippi is merely a copycat!
