    A new trend

For once I'm in the forefront of something--single, heterosexual men who like cats:

    http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/05/fa...ll&oref=slogin

This does limit my dating options to the 80% of women who are not allergic to cats...

Cats are cool, and LOML wants one, but we are having a tough time finding a cat that can deal with my dog... And he's not going anywhere...

My friend Alf likes cats too!

We've had a couple of the feline companions, but nature took them away. We now have 2 canines, Big Dog and Foxy. Foxy had a friend who was a cat and they played and ate together and yes slept in the same bed together. The cat's name was Jacob and when he past away, Foxy mopped for several days. Very strange...

About 20 years ago, we had a Golden Retriever. One day after being out in the yard, she came up on the porch with a little kitten in her mouth. She didn't hurt it at all, but acted more like it's mother. Never found out where it came from, but they stayed together for quite a long time.

I don't mind cats conceptually... As long as they stay behind glass or anywhere else they can't make my eyes puff shut...

I did name my dog Tiger, but that was because he was orange with black stripes as a puppy rather than due to my love of felines...

Just visit your nearest Chinese or Korean food restaurant.

Anyway straight single and have cat. Love dogs too but I live by myself and sometimes work 10 hour days. Would not be fair to the dog. The toys are cheap, 1 sheet of printer paper wadded up equals hours of kitty fun. Cats are self cleaning (for the most part) bury their refuse in the scented kitty litter and don't leave messes when I'm gone to long. They are soft furry purring stress relief without the expense of a spa. Other than the carefully hidden hairballs whats not to like?

What Sparkey said, plus you don't have to walk them, especially in the rain and snow.

They don't adore you like dogs do.
They don't play fetch, catch frisbees or do anything otherwise goofy.
They aren't overjoyed to see you when you come home.
They can't/won't go running with you when you exercise.
They can't/won't go on walks in the park or go swimming.
They can't won't bark to let you know someone is coming.

                    Cats are boring.

I never liked cats until I got one, then two, then three. Add to that I've always had at least one BIG German Shepherd, then two BIG German Shepherds. I maintained this type of arrangement since 1970, and between marriages.

Now, this brings us to the math about how many years I was single and dating, and having both dogs and cats as pets. It was sixteen years. If there was a possible bunkie buddy that was so allergic, I'd just go to her house. OTOH, there were those that just loved animals in the bedroom.

Kind of what we are hoping for. Actually we came across a stray that was sweet as pie, unfortunately for us, she was stray because she got away from her people while evacuating for the storm.... They wanted her back...

I've had cats and dogs just about my whole life. At present it's three cats and one dog. When I got rid of the OL I got the house and the pets (I got the best of the deal). I can imagine not getting another dog when my munchkin dog passes away, but I can't imagine not having cat around the house. Pat

Great! As my brother used to say 'I love cats, but I couldn't eat a whole one'.
