    Hey Popeye!

Are you still driving a tanker? If so, are you still busy? Went to get gas today and the two gas stations nearest me are closed. A few miles down the road there a 4 and all of them had lines. They were only selling 87, all are out of the others.

No problem here in Sacramento, CA. $3.53 for 87. never did go up after the storms in Gulf. Take in back the price did go up $.10 for some reason and then right back down and has continued down a little at a time but not as fast as it goes up.

We had some issues the first few days after Ike but since then there haven't been any out of the ordinary problems. The Jacksonville fuel depots which are Hess, BP, Cheveron, and Nustar seem to be getting their fuel shipments. BP is out of Diesel till the 1st. These terminal cover Northeast and North Central Fl. and SE Georgia. BTW, and it works this way everywhere......the above terminals supply fuel for all the brands sold in the area. Pat

Sorry guys, Gustav and Ike did a number to the platforms, refineries, and distribution systems. I am pretty sure the BP refinery in Texas City was down for at least a week. Hey, at least this time they didn't blow it up again like they did in 2004. That is what we get for living in a country that puts the majority of the energy infrastructure critical to the entire nation in such a small swath of SEVERE storm prone coastline... Until that changes, you can expect more of the same for the foreseeable future.

That blows the theory of brand preference. I can remember the days of pullin' into a Sunoco station and turning the pointer dial to 260.

I'm sure Pat will correct me if I am wrong but there is a difference in brands with the additive package. It is likely mixed in while the truck is filling each load.

And that would be correct Mark. Basic gas is all the same though, I've seen a ship stop at Hess and move up river 200 yards and tie up at BP. Since I started doing this three years ago I gave up on buying brands. Best bet is to try and always buy from a busy station. Oh, and that deal about not buying when a truck is unloading... I don't buy that anymore either. All the stations have filters to take care of anything that gets stirred up. Pat
