    Coffee Cans

A request for a bit of appropriate manners/etiquette when storing my money in coffee cans in the pantry:

    - Do I roll the bills up and place several rolls in the can, or just toss them in lose-leaf? If rolls, rubber bands or tape?

    - Is a decaf or caffinated can better?

    - when inflation hits and dollars are worthless, will the money have abosrbed enough of the aroma to grind and use as coffee all over again, since coffee will likely be worth more than dollars?

      1. Roll the bills up, use rubber bands. Coffee cans are expensive. If the bills are tightly rolled you can get more in that way.

      2. Decaf? What is that?

      3. No. Start saving your used grounds - spread them on a cookie sheet and bake them in the oven to dry.

Has to be caffeinated. Gives you more energy to go out and earn more to put in the empty cans.

Just save the cans, they'll be worth more as scrap then the paper you are filling them with.

Use Columbian Cartel coffee cans. Leave some grounds in the bottom. Store only 10's and larger denominations. The bills will get aromatic, and you can use them for filters without the coffee grounds.

Go to the bank. Covert the bills to pennies. Put the pennies in the coffee cans. Immediately the value of the cans will be higher with pennies in them than paper, and the value of the pennies will increase unlike the bills, which (if not tomorrow) will, in the near future, be worthless. This only holds true as long as pennies are mostly copper. In a short time they will be; 1. plastic, 2. still worth more than the face value, and 3. obsolete.

Since 1982 pennies have been mostly not copper. They are copper clad zinc (97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper).

Better get your coffee cans quick. Most are going to plastic jars.

                      Who has money to store?

As for any extra money, I thought that's what Home Depot, and similar establishments, were created for!

                      Regards, Steve

Too bad. Zinc a year ago was worth $1.40 a pound. Today its at $0.78. 128 pennies weigh 1 pound. Hang on it will rebound.
FYI Copper is at $3.11, in June it was over $4.

My coffee cans are causing discomfort. They're under my matress. Am I doing something wrong?
