The tale of Loring and 10000 posts

The idea of having a pool to guess when Loring will reach 10,000 posts has been rolling around in my head. So I thought we should outline the basics of the contest and ask for comments

    1. We will need a prize, Maybe a plaque or something similar to be awarded to the winner. We need someone to volunteer for the plaque making duty.

    2. Eligibility requirements, open to everyone except; Loring, moderators that can tinker with the post numbers.

    3. The Contest Guess the closest time and date for the posting of #10000. Here is the format; date, (mm,dd,yyyy) time 24:00 clock based on CDST (hr, mn). Winner will be the entry closest on or after the Post.

    4. Entries; one entry per person PM to the contest official. We need a contest official and a collaborating moderator.

    5. All decisions by the contest official are final.

Al right let's hear the suggestions

Is that a question or a suggestion for the contest

If there's no volunteer to make the plaque, maybe it can be a virtual one. Ie. a pic on the sig or, if mods will allow, special avatar.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

What if the software doesn't go to 10,000, it reverts to 1 and then Loring will be a newbie again!!

If you are wanting something carved, I can do that with my Carvewright and will gladly donate a plaque. I have some real pretty cherry that ought to do well. But then we need to come up with an image for the carve.

I think Loring should get a plaque. And as far as mods entering, will you take our word for it that we can't tinker with the post counts?

After some thought I have come to the conclusion that this cannot be a fair pool. Even if we close the pool much before Loring gets close (has to be, otherwise it's even more skewed), the fact that Loring will be able to ...ummm... manage (did not want to say 'manipulate', as we know Loring is an honourable man... ) his posts at will, makes this a moving target.

For example, if it were me, I would be sorely tempted to try and hit 10K on that one date that was nobody's choice! Just to mess with everybody, ya know!

I vote that we instead have somebody like Mike create a plaque for Loring...

I will take your word for it, but you can't enter

But it looks like even a mouse lefty can be the moderator to support the contest

Got a volunteer for the plaque, but I think a virtual plaque for both Loring and the winner would be great we will have to run this by the grand poohbah's

Let's do it, jussi is going to come up with an online plaque, Mabe we can use it as a graphic for the carvewright.

                          Thanks for volunteering.

As long as the virtual plaque isn't too loud, it should duplicate fairly well on the Carvewright. It can be manipulated pretty easy either way.
