    Free photo editor update

Paint.net which was mention here a few years back has a new release ver 3.36. This is a great user-friendly editor that beats Microsoft Paint by many miles. It's been compare to Photoshop.

I totally agree, Howie, it's a great little program and you can't beat the price! Here's a screen-shot to give you an idea (click to enlarge):

That looks pretty good. Does it support layer masks?

I'm not a big photo/video geek... while I'm pretty proficient w/ a computer and I used to be fair-ta-middlin' w/ a pencil and sketch pad... the more 'graphical' and 'artsy' a program is the hard of a time I have with it. Phototshop just drives me up a wall trying to do the simple things I want to do - touch up a picture, resize it, and maybe add some boxes and text (captions). What I've been using is IrfanView, which works pretty slick. How does this Paint-replacement/clone compare?
All right, breaks over. Back on your heads!

TBH, Ed, I've never tried. I use it together with my Lightscribe stuff, so I don't touch the majority of its features. There's a full feature list here, though, if that's of any help.

Thanks for the link. It looks like a pretty impressive program, probably something like Gimp (also free). It doesn't seem like it supports layer masks, but it does offer a lot of other useful functions. It's in my bookmarks in case someone else might be interested in it.

How does this compare to The GIMP? I have been a GIMP user for years, and I love it. However Photoshop users it would seem might find the interface of this program more familiar...

I dunno about the program itself. But I sure like that '69 Camaro in their official screenshot...
