Aftermath of Ike - Houston Weather

Looks like the storm took out the weather instruments at the Houston Chronicle weather station.
    Wind: -9999 N mph
    Temp -9999 degrees
    Wind chill 1000 degrees
    Humidity N/A (But I'll guess its 110%)

OTOH the air quality is good. Pollutants are 250 miles away by now.

Note Galveston high tides listed as 2.46'. More like 22 feet today.

On the brightside, if you need to smelt any iron now would be the time to do it.

Thanks for the update. Just received an email from my Sis and BIL. A few tree limbs down. some house siding trim peeled away. No power. They live in Houston, West (maybe a narrow area called Memorial). I just remember Dairy Ashford Blvd? and a great place for burgers and milkshakes.

dairy ashford and Memorial drive is a nice area, about 10 miles closer to town than me. probably got a lot of wind and rain.
lots of good restaurants around there.. Maybe Beck's Prime is the Burger place?...

                  Crazy picture.

Was it a wave that put them through ? Or during the flooding ?

Never seen anything quite like it.

it was the result of the storm surge, the sea probably rose 15-feet or so above MSL and the yard and fence were under the sea for a while the fish just swimming around and said hey whats this doing here? Then the sea receeded leaving the fish stuck there.

                          Aggie storm protection

OK, so someone tell me how this Aggie storm window protection is supposed to work:
(hint, look at which side of the plate glass windows the boarding-up is done from.)
