It's not really funny, but it is really funny. There's more truth to all that than you think.

Paul, that's a great idea! I wonder how many

trucks it'll take to move the state of Florida up there? lol But as Cabinetman "There's more truth to all that than you think.". Look at Key West this evening and evac stand down, and those already left, "...don't come back till Wednesday...". Those in the south catch ell in cane season.

I guess we all pick our poison. Some folks live in the path of hurricanes. Some live in the path of devastating floods. Some live in tornado country.

Then there are those of us who live where the earth moves

Might be a bit of a shocker in February or March with that Eastern Montana, Western Dakotas move.
From the NW corner of Montana.

It always takes to long to drive across Montana any way. Eastern North Dakato and Western Montana are kind a boring to dirve through maybe some Everglades would spice things up. Wonder what you would get when you cross a Buffalo with a Gator? A Buckeye?
Think I might have gone to far oh well.

So know yall are figuring out why the western Carolina's and North Western Georgia are such popular places to be.

                Hurricanes, not very often
                Snow, not very often
                Seismic stuff, not very often
Tornadoes, not as often as other places
                Scorching heat, not so much
                Freezing cold, not so much
drought, not as bad as other places
                wild fires, not very often
                Floods, not regularly

Yankees, and half-backs well 2 outa 11 aint so bad, but we'll take yall anyhow

wait, I forgot chapel hill and durham...

Actually your assessment of natural disasters is pretty spot on.

I grew up in NW Georgia. I agree with most of those, esp. snow. However, I disagree with the heat. It's HOT down there. Right now it's in a drought too.

I don't mind it in January, but in August--I'll take WI thank you.

Here in Michigan we don't get the floods, hurricanes, many tornados, or extreme heat, but we more than make up for it with bad roads and rusted out cars.

I did hear one person put it well explaining how Michigan weather is actually better than Arizona weather.

Arizona people have to stay inside in the air conditioning during the LONG hot summer days and only get to go outside and play during the nice winter months when it gets dark at 4:30pm, but here in Michigan the short winter days are the ones that we hide from while we can bask in the beautiful summer weather until 9:30pm. So there!

That said, I hate this place.

Ahem, some of us don't consider snow to be a natural disaster, but rather a recreational opportunity.

Then again, some of us don't live in Buffalo or other lake-effect cities either where after 6' of the stuff they might agree with with the "Suzners"

                          I'll take Ohio
                          Hurricanes, NONE
                          Snow, Some
                          Seismic stuff, None
Tornadoes, not as often as other places
Scorching heat, Some: depends on what you call scorching
Freezing cold, Some: depends on what you call freezing
Drought, None (OK rare occasions, like a few months)
                          Wild fires, None
                          Floods, rarely (none around here)

                          Plus we have the Buckeyes!!!!

                            Isn't that a natural disaster

Now the choice of Texas depends where you are

Hurricanes, Along the coast for Loring and dbhost
Snow, In the panhandle, occasionally in north Texas.
                            Seismic stuff, None
Tornadoes, not as often as Oklahoma
Scorching heat, Some: It depends on where in the state you are. Occasionally over 100 in most of Texas (no humidity out west and in central, mild humidity in north Texas , Lots of humidity along the coast and always in Houston.
Freezing cold, Little: if it gets below 50 we have to wear coats
Drought, some times for years, then corrected with huge thunderstorms.
                            Wild fires, None
                            Floods, rarely (none around here)

So It looks like Central and North Texas is the place to be.
Often in error - Never in doubt
