I had always considered them a benefit of marriage, but now that I think of it, I haven't seen one in a while.
Anyway, my university recently decided not to renew it's contract with Victoria's Secret "Pink" line of (rather conservative) logo wear. The chancellor (who is a man) said the images in the catalog where not "consistent with the values of the university in terms of the way they portray women."
Seems to me that if you're in the business of selling women's underwear, then you pretty much need to show pictures of women in their underwear... Besides, if the target audience for that catalog is women, then it seems they would want the photos of the women in the catalog to be in good taste lest they offend their own customers.
And if it's a catalog of women for women, then shouldn't a woman be the one judging how appropriate it is? It seems to me that most men, when looking at photos of women modeling sexy underwear, would see them in a slightly different light than would-be female customers would...
Maybe I'm just being a guy here, but if I were a woman I think I might be offended that a man was sticking his nose in my domain and asserting values based on his uniquely male perspective...
Or has that catalog just been going way over the top lately? Maybe I should ask my wife to sign up for it again so I can investigate further on my own...
