My tool budget got cut into...

among my too many projects, I am working on a personal business buildup at home on my PC... Well, my monitor has been acting up lately. The monitor was originally purchased in 1998, and has worked great all these years...

Funny how time flies when you are having fun. I was worried about having to buy a flat screen thinking they were expensive... Well Wally World had a Dell 20" flat screen, with extended warranty for $240.00... So much for my tool plans for this payday... But at least I have a nice monitor to work with...

Man that's a bummer to cut into the tool

funds! But I will tell you, you wished you had that flat screen way back when... The one I use is much better than one of those big fat crt monitors, and it seems (to me anyway) that it's easier on the ol' eyeballs. Hope you enjoy your's when ya get it...

I got it... I like the screen real estate. The financial impact is nowhere near what I paid for the now dead 19" CRT. And at the time that CRT was a "deal"... I have been using flat panels at work now for I guess 4 years or so. I am getting used to them. I sure miss the old Sun Microsystems 24" display I had back in the day. GREAT color rendering with the graphics cards of its day...

I must admit though, this Dell flat panel is every bit as clear and clean in rendering as the old Apple Cinema Display from 4 years ago...

If you're not in a hurry you can find the 19" for around $150. Just check sites like slickdeals.

Edit: Nvm I guess you already bought one.
I reject your reality and substitute my own.

Thats a good deal for a Dell monitor. They are probably the only decent product dell makes.

There's a down-side to that flat monitor, no place on top to set your coffee to keep it warm!

Just think of it as a tool to help you afford the other tools.

The price of LCD monitors has really come down in price. I picked up a 19" Acer @ Best Buy for $120.00 in July.

Geeze, you can't give away a CRT these days. I see them all the time at yard sales and thrift stores for like $5-$10. Heck, I have one out in the garage that's been sitting unused for a few years.

I just got a new comp (a Dell XPS 630, it rocks!) I got the 22" widescreen, it's awesome! I had a regular 20" flatscreen so I didn't gain much real estate on the screen but it's nice to have that little bit extra width.
