What kind of winter are you expecting?

The newspaper last week had an article that said the Farmer's Almanac predicted a winter with above average snowfalls and below average temperatures for the upper midwest. The National Weather Service predicted the exact opposite.

Since the two Farmer's Almanacs (Almanii?) say exactly the opposite and the NWS hasn't been right as long as I can remember, I'm gonna plan for the worst* and hope for the best.

    * Several days below -25 and a some 24"-plus blizzards.

When the day comes that I can figure out how to change it is when I'll start thinking about it.

I used to work with a guy whose father had a fool-proof way of forecasting the weather.

When he woke up, he'd stick his arm out the window and always knew what to wear that day.

If the Farmer's Almanac is right, it seems that I'm agreeing with them, as per my vote. I'm expecting early winter weather too.

until it's sitting on my lawn, I don't believe it will snow here anymore (four disappointing winters since we moved here). And when it is sitting on my lawn, I'll have a big grin.

You did not list "I live in Texas so who the heck knows?!?!?!"

When it SNOWED in April, I decided NO ONE knows!

This winter will be exceptionaly cold. Sunspot activity is way down, for the first time in one hundred years we have gone a month without and sunspot activity. You read it here first.

Apparently the Farmer's Almanac forecasts take sunspots into account. Interesting observation.

Around here I am sure it will snow and be cold.......Like usual. Around here it changes from day to day and sometimes the weather people are right and sometimes they aren't.

I'm expecting a brutal winter...4 days instead of 3 that the temperature drops into the 30's.

Winter - we are just waiting for summer to end and can't wait for winter. Our average winter temps are 60-70 with nice clear blue skies...
