    I came to a conclusion..

.. that I REALLY hate working where I do.

    *sigh*

Anyone who thinks about working in any form of management for a school district, you are out of your %$^&$%^ mind.

My dad was superintendent of schools for 22 years at two districts before he retired. He'd agree with you wholeheartedly.

Blah. Don't tell me that. I put cleaning up dog crap before I mow the yard a few steps above it.

I think it is time to find a greener pasture.

Maybe it is. Good luck with the hunt.

I know some of the feeling of conflicts within management and having responsibilities delegated without the authority to carry them out.

Here is a site that might be worth looking at - for a second career:
              http://www.humanmetrics.com/

At the top left is a Jung - Myers/Briggs test for basic personality testing. Below them are some inexpensive tests that might offer or suggest other courses if you are looking for different career choices.

In my STRONG opinion, contrary to what some people say, most personality and leadership style inventories are conditioned by recent emotional involvements and situations. I go from being a strong Introvert _after_ spending a week in crowded Disney like parks - to being a slight extrovert after a week of recuperation in solitude, or after several good small group mentoring sessions.

However, the tests do give some direction to thought. My leadership philosophy and style does not change - Get the job done however necessary, equip people to do the job and get out of the way - don't micromanage unless a trouble maker is in the midst.

My supervisors know my leadership style (and I know theirs) and responsibilities are passed around accordingly.

Yup I have been with this District/Department for 22 years. It is amazing the that we actually trust some of these people to teach our kids. Most are great but then you get the really stupid actions of some that cause you to scratch you head and go "HUH, what were they thinking"

Man, I think that's the tag-line for the whole world...

The stress from running a mission critical department, or large/complex project can be a fraction of what you feel when you hear one of those "he did what?" statements...
