Vespa - (riding) day 2 pics (Pappy!)

I never thought it would stop raining!

Moving pics were too hard for Carole - she hopes these are OK, Pappy.

46F this morning (fogged up the visor). That + 80k/hr = VERY cold. I'm going to buy a "full-face" helmet - this one is WAY too open.

Please note the double chin and short legs...

    Proof Accepted

Since the bike is off the stand in the last 2 pictures, and you are at least facing the right direction, we can accept this as proof it is happening!

46* is a bit chilly to ride. The full face helmet will help with the temp but they are worse about fogging. If you open the face shield up a click or 2 when you stop, it helps and the wind will close it when you get going again.

It sounds like you can practice riding in the cold weather and work out all of the challenges of getting used to the new machine. Then when the weather turns nice you will be all set to enjoy the cruising.

Rod - why are you all bundled up? It is pushing 100 degrees here! Looks like you are going to have some fun once the weather warms up.

            Rod,

Not sure in down under land and all. But I bought this anti fog stuff that you smear on diving goggles a few years ago. Maybe that would keep your face shield from fogging?

I didn't notice... with all the gear on we could be twins - LOL!! When I was riding I put a 'stop' on riding when the temp reached 20*F (I'm too lazy to convert that to C*). I never found a good remedy to the fogging problem. I wore what was labeled then as a "Throat Coat" which was an oversized, quilted and elaticized dickie. After you had it over your head you put the helmet on and stretched this to the bottom of the face shield. It was great for constant travel but you had to pull a corner down when you were approaching a stop or you fogged up in an instant. That was particulary problematic with heavy gloves so I lived with a little 'crack' in the thing for those inevitable stops. Of course, at those temps my ankles and wrists were in pain after only 20 minutes of riding.

BTW, you and the bike look good to me!
              Blessings,
              Chiz

Can't quite see the double chin on the Vespa. Is that at an additional cost?

Cold? I don't see a minus sign in front of the 20. Now THAT'S cold!

Have fun riding that. Take an extra ride for me as I don't think Mark would let me get a motorcycle or scooter as I wouldn't have any where to put a 2 1/2 year old on it. Although I could get a motorcycle and get a side car for it

You can get a side car for a Vespa
