It's even worse up in the mountains. My wife had six weeks of hiking and backpacking along the Pacific Crest Trail planned for this summer, but a large section she'd planned to hike has been closed due to the fires.
This particular heat wave is over. Temps are about 6 degrees lower than they were yesterday and about 12 degrees lower than Tuesday. I've been watching the power grid all week and it hardly broke a sweat (no pun intended). Peak demand on Tuesday and Wednesday was 10% lower than forecast, which is an unusually large "miss".Comment

I is bad, haven't taken the dog for her walf for the last 2 days and probably not tonight either. The temps may drop but until we get a good wind the smoke will stay. My son in Meridian Idaho says they got some our smoke over there. Gov. Arnie live down in LA and flys his private Jet (I think it is a jet) back and forth daily. The sky was pretty good this morning and it was getting hot, but then the smoke became heavy and it didn't get over 95 like Stormdog said. It is alsmost as bad a routing or cutting MDG with out a mask. Kind a have an orange glow this evening.

What's amazing is that there are no fires near Sacramento itself - we are lucky in comparison to others in the state.
I envy Tom and his new AC in his shop - mine is in the third bay of an uninsulated garage, so hot and smokey. So, my wife now has me doing inside projects such as painting and such - I hate painting!!! Of course, I have been promising her I would paint for a long time, so...Comment

That is some picture. Looks a lot like LA smog. I'm about 5 miles from the ocean and can smell fires burning in the Everglades 20-30 miles away. Too bad they don't smell like a cookout.

The AC in the shop has been a Godsend. I have manged to stay busy with different projects instead of being in the house sittling around like last week. LOML has some projects for me but hasn't made up her mind on exactly what she want done, so until she comes up with a plan I am off the hook. Not quite as hot today but the smoke is still there but up high so the visibility is better. Took the dog for her walk last night, she was so happy to be out of the yard. I feel for the people who have to work outside it must miserable for them and not healthy.
