    There goes the last of the really funny and intelligent comics.

    I assume that George will feel right at home with Lenny Bruce and Sam Kinison, wherever they are.

    I guess there's no one really good left.

      A great comedian, indeed, a "rugged veteran" of showbusiness, whose main appeal for me was his ability
      to be both cerebral and profanely vulgar at the same time.
      But, sorry to say, something happened to him in recent years---a tone of vicious misogyny he never had before.
      Very hateful, no longer funny in the old way. Sort of like
      Mark Twain's bitter last years. It was as if George found nothing funny at all anymore. He may have known he was going relatively soon. I heard he was never the same after his wife of about 40 years died, several years back.
