I'm sorry--no way was Jim Varney as good as Buddy Ebsen. The TV show was hokey and offensive to Southerners like me, but it had great actors and was a lot of fun to watch. Not to mention appearances by Flatt and Scruggs and Roy Clarke:

I saw part of that on HBO (or some other movie channel) a week or so.

        Movie to tv....

        Stargate SG-1.

One that started out as tv, and has had three, bad, seperate, non or semi affiliated movies (not considered part of the continuing story line) is Dr. Who. After next season, they said (last I heard) they were going to go movie with it. I hope they improve over their last two (their used loosely, since they were only partially associated with them).

Yes, Barbara Feldon was yummy... Hard to believe she's 76 now... As the last surviving major cast member from the TV show, it would've been nice to see her get at least some sort of cameo in the movie.

M.A.S.H the movie was terrible. Or at least not very good. M.A.S.H the TV show was much better.

Maverick the movie was good. I've never seen the TV show so can't really compare. I was aware that James Garner played the original Maverick.

The Star Trek TV shows were all better than the movies.

I would definately have to agree with Germdoc on the Beverly Hillbillies movie. I thought it was horrible. As for the Star Trek movies, the ones based on the original series were much better than their TV counterparts. I liked The Next Generation much better though and the movies based on it were passable. Not as good as the series, but alright.

As for Steve Carrell, I love him on The Office but most of his movies have been horrible. Evan Almighty was an atrocious movie IMHO. I hold out no high hopes for Get Smart. It looks like another movie where all the best parts are in the previews.

One person I am truly over is Will Ferrell. I seriously cannot stand him anymore. It is the same character with a different backstory in everything he appears in. I watched 45 minutes of Talladega Nights before shutting it off. I had not even cracked a smile. All the others since then I have refused to watch.

With all of the insanely stupid movies that have come out in the last year or two, I am going to have to start smoking pot if I want to go to the movies anymore.

                Is Get Smart worth watching?

                seriously?

Heck yes, two words Anne Hathaway...

The review on the radio this morning was pretty bad. Said that it couldn't decide if it's a comedy or an action movie. Now, I'm young enough that I never saw the TV series. But, I have little desire to go see the movie. Maybe get it from netflix?
