I second (or maybe third) Anchor Steam. I first came across it in SF, and figured I would never find it at home, but luckily I did.

I also like Guiness, Bass, Newcastle, Amber Bock and the occasional Sam Adams.

I am by no means a beer snob, but I have never understood the mass attraction to the Lite beers.

      Hey Cab,

Are you aware we can still get to "enjoy" that water buffalo piss we used to drink (or is it rent) in the bad old days. http://beergeek.stores.yahoo.net/33exlabe12vi.html

Try it, great with just about everything, except maybe ice cream.

Negra Modelo is one of my all time favorites. Dark in color but only medium body, has kind of a root beer aroma and a hop balance of a Sam Adams....love it!

Anyone ever try a Smutty Nose Old Brown Dog Ale?

Thanks for the list Cab, brought back some old memories. What ever happened to " Olie " and " Luckey Lager ." Drank a lot of that when I was on the left coast back in the fifties in the navy. Now its Yuengling or Sam Adams.

When I read this the first few times, I thought you had already downed a few too many before trying to post it, since (for those two or three readers who may not know) Rolling Rock uses green bottles. Then I got it. I use the same rationale when polishing off a carton of ice cream to save it from getting freezer burn.

I like trying different microbrews (like the Southern Tier Pomegranate Wheat Ale I had last weekend,) and I commonly buy the Sam Adams and Saranac case assortments. But I've always got a few cans of Guinness draught in the fridge, and I like to frequent restaurants and pubs that pour a good stout.

2 really great beers that are no longer available:
Gettleman $1000 beer. They were bought out by Miller on the same street in Milwaukee.
Prior Beer from Chicago connected to the Bismark Hotel.

I like any Red Hook brand as well as all beers from Scotland. Lite beers should be eliminated.
