    My Birthday

A Nice birthday wish from the Forum.
A choice bottle of merlot from the apartment complex manager.
Cards and well wishes from many of the residents and staff of the complex.
    A beautiful Seattle sunny day.

    There were two real highlights:

Fridays are our happy hour, which is always enjoyable. Yesterday I was surprised by it turning into an impromptu birthday party for me. The best part was that there were about 20 exchange students from the University of Washington invited to join us to work on their english and meet new people. We had a gentleman from Kuait and a young lady from Korea at our table. My wife and I spent most of our time talking with the Korean lady, Irene, she was fascinating. When she heard that it was my birthday she dug out a small replica of a Korean drum and gave it to me, I then gave her one of my wooden pens. After a bit more talk, in part thanks to her electronic translator, I learned that her father makes furniture as a hobby.

The crowning point of the day was dinner with my lovely wife at Duke's Chowder House on Lake Union. Great food, a beautiful view and Maggie.

Days like that are wonderful...having a good time with your wife and great friends.

Because the day is so special
                  it really wouldn't do,
to send one simple birthday wish
to last the whole year through...
                  So this wishes happy moments,
a day when dreams come true,
and a year that's filled with all the things
that mean the most to you.
                  .

Here's to many more, Dick! Sounds like a great time all around. We lived in the Stanwood/Arlington area from 2002-2005, and I know full well what a blessing a sunny day can be, and that it was on your birthday means someone is watching from above.
