    Hang onto your lunch!

This video is unbelievable! El Chorro is in southern Spain, and I'd say their road needs some work!

I don't know what's so bad about it--there's a handrail most of the way, and there's water below in case you fall.

            What's the problem??

Reminds me of the "hilltop villages" I visited in France. Nice place to live, not too many intruders!

Is that because they live on steep cliffs, or because they're French?

Yep. Steep hills, and absolutely lovely places to live.

It's actually fenced off there, too ("there" = Spain) -- I think for good reason. People (probably mostly tourists) think, "Well, it's open for hiking, so it must be safe." and then end up creating one of those holes we see in the video and falling ~500 feet to the bottom. So I think it has a big impressive gate at the entrance now.

Looking back at my Rough Guide to Spain from the mid 90's -- it was still open for hiking then anyway.

Awesome video anyway. I got vertigo watching it. :P

Think he/she had a steady cam or something?

must've had a helmet/steadycam... I can't imagine him looking thru a viewfinder or even screen while tightrope walking across some of those rusty metal pipes left over after the concrete fell away.
