What other WW Forums do you visit regularly?

i have read quite a few post in the last few months, where the poster mentions what they saw or learned or noticed on other ww forums.

so, i thought i would start a thread asking: what other WW Forums do you visit regularly or are active members of?

    thanks.

I do not belong to any other forums, but I visit Woodnet, and Saw Mill Creek. Saw Mill Creek is starting to be more of a professional woodworkers forum with their tendency to only recommend higher end tools and be somewhat snobbish.

      Woodnet.net, SMC, Woodmagazine.com, Knots, Woodworkingtalk.com, Ridgid.com, Familywoodworking.org, and occasionally Woodworking.com.

I *really* wish FWW would lose that Prospero/Delphi forum style - annoying as heck when I'm searching, plus I'm purt much used to the somewhat standardized PHP BB format that most everybody else uses.

Ditto. I would read FWW Knots forum a lot more if not for the way their posts
are displayed. I frequent and post on WoodNet when BT3 is slow. However,
there are a lot of the same posts by different newbies over there because
there are so many posts you can't keep up. I belong to Sawmill Creek only
because you need to be a member to view the pictures. BT3 is still the
friendliest but you'll get a lot more replies (maybe no good ones) at Woodnet
because their viewership is larger. I like Woodnet's search function better.

Nothing else anywhere near as frequently as BT3Central, but I look in on the Ryobi forum from time to time.

Now I have to question, why would you want to visit any other forum?

Just like if you have a lovely wife, why would you want to hook up with other women?

I have just gotten involved with a guitar-makers' forum (luthiersforum.com), but it's not the same thing--it's purely platonic. I go there for the "intellectual" stimulation, nothing else.

This is the only one I go to on a regular basis. If I'm looking for something I can't find here, I'll do a Google search.

Woodnet and a fairly new one called Woodworkerszone.com.

Woodnet is good for their Home Improvements section.
Woodworkerzone has some features I like including a Woodwiki, although the wiki is still growing.

Sawmill Creek is somewhat off-putting with its constant requests for money. The financials also don't add up IMO regarding what I know a forum costs (roughly) vs what I guesstimate they take in. I lurked for a bit and considered joining but the mods also seem to be way too heavy-handed and not open to criticism of themselves.

Woodnet and SMC. But this is the only one I really like. Others seem to have too many people who think too much of their own opinions.

I think my favorite thing about the Creek (haven't tried it on this forum, but I think it did *not* work on Woodnet) is that I can manipulate the search string for the 'Show new posts' search so that it only shows new threads in forums I care about - so I can just completely skip the Turning, Laser Engraving, Off-Topic forums (and hence most of the 'flame wars') when looking for new info in the Workshop, Power Tools, and Neander forums. Very cool!

no other "fine" WW sites, I do visit JLConline which is a professional home builder's site. their trim carpentry forum is sometimes really good.

I'm surprised no one mentioned WoodCentral.
                              http://www.woodcentral.com/

Their message board is pretty easygoing and friendly, and there's a wealth of experience over there.
