Today a co-worker and I took off for the day and went to see Clarks Hardwood store in the Heights area in Houston and then to the Woodworking Show at Reliant center. OK, we had Lunch at Pronto's Cucinina in the MOntrose area, too.
Below are some pics from Clarks. A very large selection of hardwoods, nicely displayed, ts easy to walk around and pick what you want. Pics below. Note the 16/4 Maple, and Walnut. The pics of the 16/4 mahogany was blurry so i didn't include it. Not too cheap, though. No marked prices or price sheet. Asked and 3/4" 5x5 Russian Birch (like Baltic Birch) was $59. Mahogany was like $9.35 per Bd ft for 4/4.
The WW show was OK, had fun seeing it with someone I've not been there with, because they tend to stop and look at different stuff than you. Posted in bargain alerts about the Ridgid prices. I spent about $140 on miscellaneous items, all small. Selection was good, but not as much as in years past - I think there's fewer vendors.
