    Yeah, I was thinking of the Pinto... and those ridiculous/hilarious bumper stickers that some pinto owners later sported that said "I explode on impact"

      My understanding is it isn't JUST the Pinto, but also Crown Vic's (aka police cars). Those also had another issue with the gas tanks, some kind of metal bar, that in an accident punctured the gas tank. The later ones had the sharp edge covered, but it would be too costly for a recall.

      Due to these, and things like the E series ambulances that had overfilling fuel fires, the Explorers common name is Exploder.
      She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.
