    Good Timing (for the grandparents)

LOML and I got a call from our youngest daughter Thursday morning at 6:00AM Japan time, just as we were about to get up to prepare for leaving to the Nagoya Airport and from there the States. She said that they would be going to the hospital soon for delivery in a few hours. We called at 7:00 PM their time (Dallas, TX area) from the Nagoya airport and they had just left for the Hospital.

Labor was induced around 9 PM Wednesday night (about 10 days early because of the size of the baby) but Amy did not deliver until 11:11PM Thursday, a little over 26 hours in labor. She looked a little tired and pale but we think she look great after all that work.

    TIMING FOR THE GRANDPARENTS:
IN all of this time, Linda and I left the house in Toyota, went to the Nagoya airport, flew to Detroit, went through customs, flew to Memphis, TN. Middle daughter picked us up. We dropped our main bags of our our house about 30 miles from Memphis and drove 7 1/2 hours to Dallas. We arrived in the waiting room at the hospital in Dallas about 5 minutes before Amy delivered. She was waiting for us. Such a sweet daughter!

Since the baby wasn't due until the end of next week, we had scheduled our flight to be a week ahead of time. But everything worked out perfect anyway.

        Woohoo!

Too bad there's no bullet train from Memphis to Dallas. Might have taken some of the stress out of the equation.

Probably depends on who you ask; the grandparents or the mother

Congrats to the new grandparents and the parents. That seems like a long time in labor, for one that was induced, isn't it?

Congrats Hank! Sounds like it was a very healthy baby. (LOML was in induced labor for 24 hours with our 9 lb. 14 oz. girl.)

Hank - Look at it this way...your trip was sort of induced. Best wishes on the extended family!

Congrats Hank and family. I am sure that your daughter is glad the labor part is over. Now everyone gets to enjoy the new baby. Thats the fun part.
