It was so cold here last night, that my scotch only warmed me down to my knees and left me with cold toes. So I had a couple more shots until I didn't care

I lived in Chicago for one winter. Just about froze my butt off. I had a friend from NY who was teaching at the Univ. of Wisc. in Madison. He used to come and spend the weekends with me to warm up. Now that's just nuts.

BTW, it was -7 deg. wind chill here this AM, and the other day it was in the mid 50's. I wish whoever controls the weather would make up their mind.

When it gets this cold, I don't even pay attention to numbers. In all seriousness, not knowing the numbers makes a big difference.

What's really crazy, though, is seeing all these teens and college kids running around with just thin sweatshirts and no coats. I guess coats just aren't cool. Man, I am officially old now.

According to the TV, International Falls recorded -40°F this morning.

              That was without windchill.

They probably had to put on a long-sleeved shirt.

That is why I moved south from Minnesota all the way down here to West Michigan. Watching the National weather always makes me feel better because it is usually 10 to 20 degrees colder there.

There is a certain brotherhood that develops in truly cold weather. I don't think it is a coincidence that -40 is exactly the same, whether you use Celsius or Fahrenheit.

If rock salt still melts the ice, stop whining, because it just ain't that cold.
