its not lighted, and there is nothing on the package as far as ratings, so I'm going to try it, and see. worst that happens is that it shorts and pops a breaker. I'm thinking that it was designed to be able to run on ac, even though almost all doorbells are dc.

A few strategically placed Claymore's should provide the perfect solution. The first 'intruder' won't be a repeat offender, and the others will most certainly think twice!

What is the best way to get bloody chunks out of the neighbors carpet (too much c-4)?
She couldn't tell the difference between the escape pod, and the bathroom. We had to go back for her.........................Twice.

Aim the Claymores into the open part of the yard, or put up a divider wall / wind break a few feet out from the door and "paint" it a few splatters at a time.

Only suggestion I have for your situation is to consistently use good hearing protection. I wear muffs. It makes me less likely to instantly notice or jump when someone comes into the shop - and it protects your hearing.

My shop used to be in the garage. My pet peeve was LOML pushing the garage door button from half a block away so she could zoom into the garage. I asked repeatedly for her to pull up to the door on the weekends or other times I was in the shop but she pretty much always "forgot". I could intimidate the kids to leave me alone but LOML thought my shop was her garage, I guess. Sometimes I unplugged the garage door opener. She also hated the dust getting on her and her car.

My shop is now in the extra garage in the basement. This is a much better setup but still not perfect. Usually she just yells through the door door (a metal exterior one) and hopes I hear. Sometimes she opens the door and comes in but that is more rare because I keep it good and messy. Now she will sometimes open the door and then wait until I shut down. She pretty much never comes over to me because of the mess and because I've yelled at her plenty about thinking about what will happen if she detracts me at exactly the wrong time.

While I hated the garage door and other sudden noises it has never caused me an injury.
