    WoodWorkers Show

Anyone going to the Northeastern Woodworker Association show this coming April 5 & 6 at Glens Falls, NY? Has anyone out there gone to one in the past? After last falls dismal failure of the woodworking show in Buffalo, NY, my buddies and I decided that this might be a good one to go to. If we don't go to at least one show a year we start to get withdrawl symptoms; not good!

A few years ago my brother in law and I missed the show in Minneapolis because we both had funerals in our families. We headed out to the one in Milwaukee which was a few weeks later and it was far better than the Minneapolis show. Now we use up excess frequent flyer miles and hotel points and go to one in a different city every year. We've been to in years past, Milwaukee twice (not enough miles to fly those years), Tacoma and Phoenix. We're going to Sacramento this year. Even though it's the same company, the shows seem to vary by city. Milwaukee was huge both times we were there, Phoenix was OK but most of the demos were cancelled, Tacoma was pretty big but the scotch afterwards erased most of it from memory. Minneapolis was small compared to all the others. If you're lucky enough to get to more than one, go for it just to compare.

We also add some culture in as well. We toured the Harley Davidson Engine factory, Sprecher Brewery, went to the Grand Canyon and Tuzigoot National Forest, Pike Place Market and the Space Needle. That, cigars and scotch make for a great long weekend away from the wives and kids.
