Come on. I expected you to know them. How 'bout Ray Lancon? Nope, not snowed in.

Aha! They were all from the Ryobi forum (and probably other sites). But I thought Ray was from Louisiana. I remember how he told everyone just what kind of tools he had, where he kept them, and how many kids he had, as well as their names and where they went to school. I always thought he might be asking for trouble.

I miss them all. I still get an email from Ken every now and then. I sure do miss Norm as well. Ray is from La.
There have been some really great folks come through here. That doesn't mean the ones that stick around aren't special too.

I was wondering about Ken the other day. Great memories with those listed above. I remember Ray falling off of his roof - at least I think it was him. He is from LA but was in Texas. Norm has been on photo forums as of late.

I remember all those names. Did a Google search on gourdfather and found this forum thread from 2000 with posts from him (John Stacy) and Norm and Ray Lancon, and also the Woodmangler:

Ray lived in Kingwood, now a part of Houston. I met with him a couple of times. Woodmangler was hanging out at woodnet last I heard from him.

Was he one of the guys who had an ongoing fued with one of the others? I remember the other guy's name, and I was thinking he and Woodmangler had a personality conflict (not sure if it was Woodmangler). That's one of the reasons that led me to leave the Ryobi forum. Well, that and all the problems they had keeping things going.

Woodmangler was for a while a moderator on Ryobi's site. He's one of those who spells Mark with a c at the end. I got so tired of folks ther addressing me as Marc that I started to sign my name with a capital K at the end.

I seem to also recall when Ray fell of his roof. He was also a rather prolific poster.

Gourdfather also always had plenty to say.

The old Ryobi site has impacted in many ways the way BT3Central is operated. Many of the first members we have also were regular posters on Ryobi Forums. A couple of years prior to Samconder.com changing to BT3Central and adding a forum Ryobi changed their merchandising to exclusively the BORG. Prior to that time the BT3K saw had an almost groupish following somewhat like the VW Bug owners of the 60's.

BTW I think all three also have membership status here. I now in the first year Ray stopped in to say howdy, with his texan drawl.

Yeah, I remember he said it was all his mother's fault.

                              Wasn't Ken also a moderator?
